A Many Splendid Thing.

It could be because I adored Bewitched as a child.   The impossibly glamorous Elizabeth Montgomery and her 1950′s abode.
Or maybe it’s because I fell in love with Marilyn Monroe at an early age?  Not the actress so much as the person. I was intrigued by her life and her times.

That’s possibly why I went on to develop an unashamed love for hat boxes and hair nets and old vintage fans by the time I was fifteen..
And then rode in a 1958 Karmann Ghia from our wedding wearing a powder pink frock.

Hair curlers  and kitten heels  and oh, a house on Mulholland drive..why do you make my heart a-flutter?
All I do know is that my mid-century love is only getting worse and Etsy, you own my soul.

Oh, now you need to show us wedding photos. Right?

    No teasing allowed. x

My mother’s prom dress looked EXACTLY like that first photo… only a deeper shade of pink. She looked brilliant in it with her hair rolled after a night in curlers. Those pink frocks are delicious. I’ve often thought that the clothes, the cars, the style was so much MORE then.

I LOVED Bewitched and, although my love for all things vintage didn’t grow until recently, I think I have always favored them. I’m glad we’re not rich because all of our money would be spent at an Etsy shop!!! My daughter is part English (since my husband is English) and she just does not look very American at all. She definitely has that vintage look about her. Etsy has tons of vintage children’s clothes that I simply adore!

Oh yes my whole world was bewitched as a child. To grow up & be Samantha & have a daughter just like Tabatha.. and that house… a world of it’s own…that was my little dream (well one of them). Marilyns biography I read that with fascination too! (well read some & mostly looked at the pictures) ..
One last thing in common.. I met my hubby in May 98,
    happy 12 yrs to you!!
    Love the wedding pics.
