Latelight.

Because, every single day when I drive this road late, I swoon at the light.
It’s what made me pick up my phone and snap as I traveled home.
Mason asked “what’s Mum taking pictures of?”
and Luca replied “the sun”.
I love that he knows.
I’m not capturing trees or houses or people.
It’s that late, hazy glow.
The golden wash and the sweeping shadows.
That last hour of light.
It transports me.
Calmed.
Inspired.
Without doubt or worry or wishing.
Lost in the moment.
Me.

Oh Sheye…too funny! Hubby and I spend alot of time in the car going to and from Vermont and I’m always snapping pics through the car windows as we roll along. He thinks I’m crazy. I’ve got a file on my pc called “Roadies” full of little treasures that mean nothing to anyone but me. Just capturing sunshine. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one… ;)

I never knew that light even existed. I saw it each day of my life but didn’t ’see’ it.

Now, after your teaching, I see it as the most wondrous, marvellous thing and cannot believe I hadn’t noticed it before.

Just one more reason to build the Statue of Sheye in my frontyard:)

    Vxx

I agree with Vanessa! Not just about building a Statue of Sheye in my front yard (LOL) but about not ’seeing’ the light before taking part in Explore and Evolve.
Thank you Sheye for inspiring us all :)

    Hi Sheye,
A friend of mine just told me about your blog and I’m so glad she did. I’m a mum of four children, aged between 3-12 years, but I lost my 9 year old daughter Olivia two weeks ago in a horrific car crash. My eldest daughter and my son were also in the car and are massively traumatised by what they saw and experienced, on top of the fact that their sister has died. Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say Hi. xx

I’ve read your blog for a few months now and you have truly inspired me. You’ve shown us all how to carry on and smile through the hardest of times. You’ve shown us how precious each day is and you’ve highlighted just how amazing even the littlest of things can be.
Your photography never fails to make me smile and your story of Ava superprincess never fails to make me cry. Thank you for having the courage to carry on and share your story with us all.
You have taught me so many lessons – to be grateful for my sister, to have the courage to carry on and to make the most of every day – all without ever knowing I exist.
When I grow up, and have children of my own, I will make sure to pass what you have taught me onto everyone I meet.
    So Thankyou xxx

I had a place like that once. It was in Oregon, down a country road that wandered past a Vineyard. When I found out we were moving from my magical place, I would drive so slowly down that road so I would never forget the way the light would come across the rolling hills and trickle through the trees. A year after we had moved a good painter friend of mine had actually painted the scene because it was so incredible and much to my husbands chagrin I spent our bonus money buying that painting. I look at it every day now and just remember.

I love when we visit the mountains, especially in the fall… and this time of day the sun shines just on the tip of the trees. I am glad that I am not the only one who takes pictures of all things odd and random pictures!

  28. Jodi says:

I am forever seeing light or sun I want to snap, but it always seems to be when I am without camera. There is something so restful, yet energising for the soul, about this sort of light. Just beautiful.
