done. dusted.
reno·vate (ren′ə vāt′)
transitive verb renovated -·vat′ed, renovating -·vat′·ing
- to make fresh or sound again, as though new; clean up, replace worn and broken parts in, repair, etc.
- to refresh; revive
Refreshed and revived? Surely you jest. The home maybe. The home owners however, are the exact opposite of revived. We are running out of enthusiasm for being woken daily by large machinery and trying to assemble breakfast on a work site. We have no flooring, kitchen or laundry. Walls have turned into plywood on their way to becoming doors. And oh, the dust. It all comes down to the dust. I take it away and someone puts it back again. Throw some children on school holidays in and you’re on the road to insanity.
The really, really good news though? Apparently we’re almost done. If I had a dollar for every person who’s said “it’ll all be worth it in the end” I could have paid for ten renovations. If we actually get to “the end”, I’ll let you know if they were right.
Here’s Ivish annoying assisting Dad with the painting yesterday. (Excuse the crazy bed hair. It was early and her mane is a part nest/part fluff at the best of times.)
Sheye xx

I love her chosen work gear though!
bed head? no way! she looks adorable!
She makes the work site look oh so chic! We are building so I know what you mean about dust, school holidays and the phrase “it will be all worth it in the end” yes if we ever do get to the end….
Just gorgeous! :)
Her posture in that first frame? Oh goodness! So grown up! Best of luck with the renovations!
A females touch never goes astray.
Can’t wait to see more of the renos !!
Ivy is pure gorgeousness!! Her outfit of choice… PERFECT, what else would a beautiful fairy be wearing!! I hope your renovations are finished soon Sheye! I don’t know how you’ve managed with no kitchen, laundry & having the kids on holidays… not to mention the dust! I have no doubt it will be worth it in the end & your home will be Beauty Full when it’s finished! You can always escape to the Gold Coast for the day :) xx
Oh. Love. I’m not sure her outfit meets Work Standards… but it sure is sweet!
I can’t wait to see when it’s all done. Please share pictures! xx
i just love the shoes….i am in my thirties and no where near as confident in heels!
Omigoodness – that is Indigo, my 3 year old’s uniform – no matter what the occasion. It is winter here so she just puts the pwinsess dwess right on top of whatever pjs or cozies she is wearing – hilarious but so so real. Adore that she and Ivy have the same shoes too – I think they are such a health hazard and regret the moment Indigo was allowed to open that secret Santa gift, but I have to admit, she is now much better at walking (and dancing and spinning) in heels that I ever was. Lovely lovely moment in time. xx
Wow she really is a beautiful wee girl. And I agree wtih Tanya her outfit choice is just perfect.
you need to
lock up that
little girl!
she’s going to
be a heart breaker!
…already is.
my little bennett
would be absolutely
smitten!…already he’s
partial to blondes
and he’s only 18months.
(he was glued to
the screen when i
played him the
mudpuddle video.)

Ivy’s dress and shoes are pretty like her and her vioce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t think it gets any cuter than Ivy, bed head and all. I loved hearing her on the video too. so sweet.
Oh. My. Gorgeousness.
Sheye, she is divine – the hair, the dress and my-o-my, those shoes ♥
Good luck with the rest of the renovations :)
She is just too cute!!
Love the heels! I see she loves to look her best whilst hard at work!
Please try and shoot more video’s, they are ADORABLE and her little voice… so cute!
All the best with the renovations, it will look awesome.
Leilani.
How cute is she?? Just so cute! her little dress and her high heel shoes, just adorable!
Love the shoes. Love the dress. Love her little mischievous smile as she’s reaching for a brush. Love the light you have to work with!! Plus, how wonderful to have your dad help out.

Aw Sheye, how cute! She looks so adorable! I don’t think her outfit goes with the job, but it’s pink so who cares?Haha..
Sheye she is just gorgeous… I WISH I looked as good as she does in heels. The dress is lovely, and bed hair? All I see is gorgeous blonde curls! Best of luck on the renovations, I don’t know how your managing.

Oh, gasp! To look that good in “bedhead” and pink pumps, please! I want to sop her up with a biscuit. When the renovations are done and you are enjoying your quiet spaces again you’ll only remember these moments and smile.
oh my she is SO cute, that first top L made me laugh, her pose is so cute, ‘helpin’ dad! love it.
I wish that I looked that glam renovating in heels!
Oh how I sympathise! We are having major renovations on about 5 rooms in our home! And although we don’t have children in the house, we have four small dogs, its a nightmare :) I just keep repeating ‘it’ll all be worth it in the end, right?’
Never mind the tousled hair- her shoes steal the show at that hour of the morning. =) I’ve lived through some minor home renovations myself and feel your pain. Living on the verge of insanity is only fun for so long. The kids will probably grow up remembering this project as much more exciting than you. Hopefully you WILL be thrilled with the end result and you’ll be so happy to have your “normal” life back. Good luck with the dust. I think that lasts forever!
Love LOVE love the construction clothes she is wearing..now if it were not dad and you were in that outfit..maybe they would be inspired to get done sooner..hahahah…
Ivish is so adorable..but it looks like you may be telling her no and she is going for it anyway???? Such fun..oxoxo
Can’t wait to see more of the house!!!
I love this little every day moment captured in such a beautiful way. Nice :)
oh sheye… i sure do know the feeling all too well… the feeling of utter exhaustion from our renovation is still so fresh in my mind. needless to say, im not renovating anytime soon but it will be amazing when its done! i do love ivys outfit though and that she is keeping an eye on your dads work – quality control! the kids love the whole process dont they? rowe x
I just love her outfit. Don’t let the Workcover see.
Only you could make painting and renovation look fabulous with your photography! Good luck and hang in there..I’ve done renos way too much in my lifetime!

With the little pink heels! Oh My! Reminds me of my girls when they were little!
I love your actions! I am wondering if they will be available for Photoshop Elements? I so totally would scoop them up in a heartbeat! Thanks
Mandy
Ivish is such a sweetie! She sets a high example of how to stay chic whilst doing such handy work :)
Lol- look at your dad’s gorgeous little “assistant”-ever so cute! These photos are adorable Sheye-Ivy is sooooooooooooooooooooooo photogenic:) Another memorable moment captured, and I am sure she will adore these photos you capture as she gets older! Thankyou for sharing, and I sympathise regarding the renovations…..ours was dust from excavations, and I swear I lost sanity then, lol . Thinking of you, xo
LMAO
Thanks for making me smile Sheye (and Ivy!)…. those shoes are hilarious ~ in a gorgeous way of course.
My friend is renovating and has been for some time and she sounds like you lol…. she’s almost done though and *it is worth it* xx
oh my goodness, she is so stink’n cute. from head to toe.
d.a.r.l.i.n.g!
A tutu and high heels are what I’d choose for painting. She’s precious . . .
her pink workwear and little high heels are just about the cutest thing i’ve ever seen.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! She looks so happy! Gorgeous PP as always
I love that you refer to this as bed hair….I wish my hair looked that cute in the morning! She is so precious!
are you kidding me?
those SHOES!
AWESOME!!
Oh my goodness is she adorable or what!!! Can’t wait to see the renovation. Have been following your site for awhile now. Love the photos. You are so talented.
love the outfit!!! =)
I’m with you Sheye! We are still there after 2.5 years! But loving the process now ( :
Maybe it grows on you lol! Yes it’s worth it & yes I would love the $1 for every one of those too!!!! It does NOT make it any easier though!!
Your Ivy & mine would be best mates, peas in a pod. Gosh they are so alike (in character, not looks)!!!. It freaks me out sometimes. We must get them together one day, they would adore each other ( :
So sweet! Ivy is so gorgeous. <3
renovating is a bear, but what a lovely contrasting backdrop to photograph Ivy in! And her shoes…what a delightful finishing touch! I can’t help but wonder if she is sprinkling a little glitter fairy dust in the paint…;)
Oh my word, her shoes are adorable!
I’m sure it WILL be worth it, when all the dust is finally gone. I am still living with my delightful 80s kitchen because I am too gutless to renovate — you’ll have to inspire me! (Ivy looks gorgeous, as usual.)
Because everyone knows a true lady paints in heels. :)
Love her.
I hope that it all comes to an end soon and that you *love* the results!
As far as Ivy goes, she’s A.dor.able!! I think her hair looks styled! And that skirt and those shoes—just TOO much—in a good way!
I love how Ivy is wearing a lovely, polkadotted dress even when painting. I like her style. She’s very sweet.
I know how you feel, but once everything is finished you will sit back and relax and admire everything that has been done, well if your children let you relax. Ivy looks so sweet and angelic. She is one stylish chic who always looks fabulous even when there is painting to do around the house. =]
Er. It’ll all be worth it in the end? =P
Hey- I do housework in exactly the same outfit! (Ivy’s that is)
P.S. Tell her not to worry about the hair. Most of the time my hair also look like that. That’s why the heels. It takes people’s minds off the hair ;)
That first photo is gorgeous! She’s standing there looking pretty while your dad does all the work.
I love checking into your blog to see your gorgeous photos :)
Wow! Her hair is gorgeous, even if its bed hair. What a lucky girl. The renovations in the background look great so far.
Renovation rule # 1….one should ALWAYS paint in heels! Love it :)
Such a classic observation pose in frame one. Love the nest too.
