Smitten.

Taken today, our back garden, ten minutes to dark.

I could not possibly adore her any more.

She is absolutely scrumptious! I love how her skirt picks up the hints of pink in the background and the leaves on the ground. Probably wouldn’t have noticed it otherwise. Love it!

How natural and gracious she is in her simple skirt and long-sleeved tee. And the tones in the photos makes it look like she’s exploring an enchanted forest. Just lovely!

These are so great. I love that almost-dark almost autumn-like feel to them, even though I know that’s not the season you’re heading into down there. But my favorite part of posts like these is hard to explain. You have suffered unthinkable loss, but you still could shout your love for your children from the roof tops it seems like. I just love knowing that that doesn’t go away that you can break through that fear of ever admitting you loved something so much and be happy with you have and what you had and still have so much loving adoration to go around. That probably makes no sense. But to me it’s brave and beautiful and a wonderful gift to your children to know your heart broke but they still have all the pieces of it they need and you aren’t afraid to give it to them even though you know how very fragile it can make a person. To you it’s probably second nature, but to me it’s proof of a fear I might be able to conquer one day: not censoring my love for others (even my dogs) based on the fear of loss.

  28. She is adorable…all your children are. Love those images. Your backyard is great for photos.
    Take care

I am addicted to your blog site. I anxiously anticipate what I will find every single day, and I am never disappointed. The photographs of your children capture the feelings that we moms have about our own kids – beauty, love, tenderness. Thank you for what you do… I know that some days it is difficult. However, know that your words are making a difference. Ivy is simply scrumptious… what a lovely, lovely child.

  43. C@thleen says:

I love this shoot. The ground, the leaves, etc. It all almost seems mystical. I wish I could get my girls to do this for me. But they figured out laying down on the grass can bring you closer to getting a bug up your pant leg, down your shirt, etc. Sigh…I’d give Ivy an extra helping of ice cream for dessert for these pics!

  44. Linda S says:

    Beautiful!!

  45. Kinsay says:

I love how it feels like you got a little bit of a new angle on your shots too…..and I love how she is looking up….it all just ties together, making for an amazing, beautiful moment. She reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. Did you know that the author of the book Alice in Wonderland,Lewis Carroll, was a photographer?

  46. kylie says:
