Honey I’m Home.

Things I haven’t done since arriving home:

Unpacked – Five very large suitcases appear to be waiting for me to do something with them. I appear to be ignoring them.
Opened mail – Other than some gorgeous parcels from gorgeous blog readers. Can’t wait to share.
Remembered how to use Photoshop – Really, I feel like I’m starting over with ten thumbs. Eeep.
Attempted to answer email – though Praise Be the WonderFran for keeping my Inbox manageable whilst absent.
Adjusted to the sub zero temperatures – Where for art thou gentle Californian sunlight?

And things I have:

Rejoiced - Long Haul is torture. The pleasure of disembarking cannot be described.
Eaten – A lot. It’s those sub zero temperatures, you see. And the pure novelty of Vegemite on toast.
Sorted – In order to avoid the first list, I’ve immersed myself in Becoming Organized.
Missed – The US of A. Yearning for a Ruby’s mushroom burger, some strawberry lemonade & an update on whether John has proposed to that wayward girl after leaving Kate.
Shivered – Bedtime attire has consisted of two pairs of trackpants. I didn’t realize it was entirely possible to layer from the waist down. Did I mention it’s a little bit chilly?

S xx

  2. Inger says:

Welcome home! Adorable picture. She looks very similar to her intimidated-by-a-one-year-old pic you posted a long time ago.

Welcome home Sheye, Yes it must have been a bit of a shock coming home to this chilly weather we are having, I too am dreaming of spring, bring on the warm weather, I am such a cold frog, hate any kind of chill in the air, mind you I am sure to be complaining about the hot humid weather in no time at all. Glad you had an amazing time and don’t worry about the unpacking its not going anywhere! Is’nt it funny how you can only be away from routine for a little while and forget how to do certain things, time is certainly a funny creature!

Your trip sounded so wonderful….it’s the coming back and getting into the groove of real life that’s hard…I’ve been back from our wonderful summer vaca for weeks now and I am still trying to get organized!!!

I can’t believe how grown up ivy looks in that picture, she gets more beautifull with every picture i see of her. Glad to hear you had a safe journey, sure you’ll get used to the cold soon. here in england everyone is complaining that its too hot.

Glad to hear that you are home safe, but also glad to hear that you loved your time in the US. It made me so happy to see your lovely photographs, and read the intense enjoyment of California. We were away (in Europe) for three weeks at the start of the summer with our son, and while it was magical, there is nothing like the feeling of returning to one’s own home environment. (By the way, we had to change accomodations, as well, because -as you know- some websites do not quite accurately represent their properties!) I do feel your pain about the mail, unpacking, remembering computer skills, etc. The mind of a mother (especially a mother who has a huge hole in her life) is a funny thing. My mind seems (sometimes) to be made of swiss cheese!
Blessings to you and your beautiful family.

I simply cannot imagine a long haul trip with THREE children. Mind-boggling it is.

    Ivy is, as always, divine.

Glad you guys made it home safe. Ivy is simply gorgeous and I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who is strangely addicted to Jon and Kate updates :)

  15. Morgan says:

    Fabulous to have you back!
Thank you for publicising the cold that does occur in SE Qld. My NZ Family is convinced we live in the land of eternal heat. If so, why am I wearing layers of socks?

Beautiful Ivy, as always. I can’t believe you really made the trip home — thought I might read about another postponement! Can’t wait for you to post photos and more stories about your American Adventures! I selfishly hope it warms up there soon, as we’re heading your way a week from tomorrow. And it was 30-ish C in PA today, so we don’t want to be doing cold next week! Happy unpacking and settling in! Sherri XO

Going from sunny California to wintery Australia does not sound fun! Although, I can’t exactly imagine a “wintery Australia” since I’ve never been there and all my poor, zapped brain can come up with is Crocodile Dundee and the Outback. :P

Did I not say not to come home the weather was crap??? Oh and friggin cold but you missed the coldest bits.

Heehee, item #3 on your second list ticked my funny bone.

Yup, I can relate to the disembarking after the long haul How long is it from California to Australia? It is a 16 hour flight from the east coast to South Africa, and that doesn’t include the local flight time to get to an international airport.

It’s Jenna’s birthday today, so I am a wee bit fragile. Hence the disjointed comment. I am wasting time on my computer, as you can see. :-)

I am seriously thinking about saving up some money to get your eye candy thingamabob. I am such a photoshop novice, I can’t imagine you saying that you are feeling clumsy with it after your long break. You rock, girl!

  22. sumi says:

Yup. that was me who posted anonymously. I told you I am feeling a bit disjointed (or is it blonde?) today. :-)

  23. Tanya says:

God Sheye, you never fail to amaze me. Ivy, that light, that tunic (vintage, I’m sure)… there are no words.

  26. Carebear says:

LOL at the John and Kate reference. You are so cute. I did see on the cover of a magazine at the grocery checkstand a headline something like “John’s New Girlfriend Can’t Wait to Be a Stepmom.” Yikes.

  27. Cialis says:

InaDQi Excellent article, I will take note. Many thanks for the story!
