The cottage is horrible news though, if they knew you were bringing children and didn't disclose the lack of stairs or safety features they have been negligent and should be returning your money. My cousin has moved to a smaller apartment in San Diego so can't put anyone up but we did find this http://lodging4vacations.com/laguna-beach-house-rental/ which is available from 6/11 and looks reasonably safe, if a bit modern. I'm thinking of you guys, hope you're having a great holiday!
