Manic Monday.
Actually, a Manic Weekend that’s overflowed into a Manic Monday..
Explore starts today and we’ve been crazy busy making everything just so.. I loved Explore last year – so many beautiful girls all gathered together so I’m really excited to get Round Two underway! For participants waiting for their login links…any second now! (A bit like if you were coming around to lunch..you’re waiting on the porch while I frantically arrange cushions and straighten my dress.)
I thought I’d best take a mindbreak and share these taken of Ivy this week. It’s occurred to me that I seem to photograph nothing but Ivy lately but I’m so unbelievably busy with everything to do with photography, I don’t have any time to actually take photos. I rarely get to pick up my camera for more than ten minutes lately and seeing as Ivy is my perma-attachment, she’s the obvious choice of model.
So, as I wandered up the driveway to check the mail early the other morning, on my way back I was so captivated by the gorgeous light. Ten minutes later and I’ve got the poor child changed into a vintage frock, perched on a chair and I’m all happiness and well, light. I had big plans but she would not stand on the morning dew without complaining and as we headed back to the house, this was our exchange:
Ivy (frowning): Lets go inside. I’ve had enough.
Me: Really?
Ivy: Yes, you got SO many today.
Me: I know honey, but they’re very pretty.
Ivy: Yes, I know I am but I’m still cranky.
I can live with it :)

Ivy is just gorgeous that light is incredible! Yes, my little one gets quite “cranky” with my camera tactics; she hates it!! Anyway, good luck with the workshop!! =)

you cannot tell from the pictures that she is even remotely cranky. (but i’m pretty sure that cranky pictures would be beautiful from that little ivy too.)

for allowing me to realize that you too … throw her into a pretty dress and grab a cool chair for picture taking opportunities …
i was all worried that all you awesome picture takers out there just happened upon those beautiful pictures … with girls in dresses already and chairs in the middle of fields with beautiful lighting. no set up necessary. whew. i feel more competent now.

She is a GORGEOUS subject and I don’t blame you one whit for wanting to capture these moments with her.

Love that dress, and that wonderful backlighting you are such a master of and I am so terrible at capturing. I tried it for this week’s i Heart Faces self-portrait contest, but it’s only mediocre. Oh well. Ivy’s comments made me laugh – my toddler always accuses his baby sister of being “cranky” and “crabby” when she’s actually the happiest, most easygoing baby. HE is actually the one with an attitude, LOL!
Gorgeous and cranky. The gorgeous is more than enough to cancel out the cranky!
P.S. Ivy, I don’t like wet toes either.
I love the light and atmosphere in these photos… utterly beautiful! And Ivy ‘keeping it real’ made me laugh!
She is beautiful….and her smile just makes my day so much brighter. I loved the ones of her using your lipgloss to polish her toes. Precious!
I just love the photos of Ivy. She’s absolutely edible. :) And the light did help in making the pictures gorgeous! Love them… capture all the moments. They’re all very important. :)
That reminds me so much of Charlotte…in so many ways. Charlotte is also brown eyed, honey skinned and streaked hair.
We were talking to a neighbour when she was about Ivy’s age. Our neighbour said to her “You are gorgeous, Charlotte”. And Charlotte looked at her, very puzzled, and replied “No. I am very beautiful.”

I find it very relieving to hear that this child has to be *changed* into a vintage frock. I live under the illusion that she always looks like she was taken straight from a children’s book or an Oilily catalogue. How good to know that she doesn’t always look perfect. It puts pressure on all of us normal people, you know. ;)
What a gift you have and how fabulous that your children will look back at all these photos and cherish the memories.
