Are We There Yet?

Week 329 of school vacation with my adorable, spoilt, bored, demanding,  wonderful offspring.  The holidays have gone quickly but a little like a fast labor, not necessarily less exhausting or noisy.   Don’t get me wrong, I love that we don’t have to do the school routine thing, no homework, no uniforms, no hours in the car…We’ve had some really nice time together amongst the chaos and noise..roller skating, bowling and beach visits..  Even our low key day today was fun, hanging out as a family watching American Idol auditions and needing to be nowhere.  Some parts I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.    But the endless washing, the non-stop bickering and pest fest.. along with the ordering of 23 snacks a day?  Not so much.   I’m fantasizing about dropping them at the school gate 72 hours early.

I’ve little right to complain though – I get to go away on Sunday for five nights..I’m “wellness retreating” as earlier mentioned.  Apparently I will come back transformed into a meditating vision of organic wonder and fitness.  This should be interesting.

The highlight of my week?  That Ivy has found new and creative ways to say “I love you”, such as:

I love your hair. (I get this one a lot).

I love your cheek. (??)

I think I will love you for ever.

You love me.

Here’s me, Miss Lovely Cheeks, and the girl I do in fact love,  with giddy abandon.

The holidays have gone too fast for us ~ Kara is with her father this week, so the slow part has just begun. We love no routine and just hanging out ~ she has nobody to bicker with which suits me lol.

ohh, it all sounds so familiar, the snack requests, the bickering and the bottomless basket of washing in my laundry, I keep waiting for that fairy to come and do it all for me :D

I’m curious, sorry if I have missed it somewhere, When would be the next Evolve workshop be happening?

  28. Amy J> says:

I feel your pain Sheye…just got mine back in school after close to a month off…then we had a day off for “cold”, whatever that was, and tomorrow is a holiday! There can be too much quality family time for sure, LOL.

Like you, love em…but seven days a week, 24 hours a day for weeks is pushing the mother/child bond to the extreme, LOL…if you want to keep your sanity anyway.

Totally freaks me out that you guys are in flip flops while we are in the single digits here!

Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your interview on Davina’s blog. Thanks for being so open and honest:) I appreciated your insight and advice.

  39. Sarah Jane says:

i stumbled on your blog a couple of weeks ago – i’ve been so taken with your beautiful style of photos and your gorgeous children, i’ve been back a few times, to cheer myself up (its been very grey in the UK this winter) and I leave feeling all warm & content & inspired.

I couldn’t come back again without dropping you a line & letting you know how lovely i think your work is. i’m a semi-pro having fallen into interior / architecture quite by accident. I have two blonde girls 10 & 8 myself i have been so inspired by your story and your images, its like i have forgotton what my camera (canon 5d – yes sob! its the older version) is for. SO thanks for waking it up.

    Hugs

  40. Lisa says:

LOL I love this age! Judd tells me that ‘I don’t like you anymore Mummy’ for no apparent reason at all…funny little freak that he is…
Far out we still have 1 week of hols to go! Am a bit over the glorified waitress bit myself & how can they possibly eat that much & still need to jump around in the shower to get wet???
    x♥ Lisa

  41. Lisa says:

Oh forgot to add, that’s a beautiful pic of you two girls x

  42. Clare says:

Isn’t it shocking just how much food children can get through? Where does it all go? Mine would happily graze like cows all day if they could. It can be so tough when they bicker and get bored of eachothers company. I keep threatening them I will find a cattle prod to poke them with one day, lol :D

Your photo is so wonderful, giddy abandon sounds glorious x
