September {How I love}

My favourite month, and not just because it’s my birthmonth!  What’s not to love about September? The weather is glorious!

I mentioned last year that the weather warming brings mixed feelings – I’m a Summer person through and through but I struggle when I imagine those few baking hots days I know we’ll be faced with..all the “if only’s” start popping up..A different day, a different time of day, a different Season, a different anything, and Ava might still be here.  It’s very hard to shake off all the associations that pop up too frequently.  So, while I’m thrilled that Winter seems to be fading away, I’d like it to remain a beautiful September indefinately please.

And to mark my favourite month’s arrival, Ivish and I spent some time in the garden ladybug hunting yesterday.

    Hi Sheye :)

I too am a lover of Spring and Summer! Just gotta love that warm weather. I am definitely not a winter person, I really hate the cold.

I love your photos of Ivy, she is such a cutie. I am doing ‘Explore’ at the moment and i love it. It is so professionally set out and i hope i can learn a lot from you.

Thanks so much for making these workshops a reality.

Warmest regards for a happy September!!

    Rissa xx

  9. September is my birthmonth too :)
But where I live September is the symbol of Autumn. The leafs are getting all orange and yellow, and the mornings are foggy and dark. It is the start of a new winter.. September is when we realize the snow is coming soon and we have to remove all the summerclothes from the closet. It is weird how we live at the totally opposite side of the world..
I am looking forward to all the nice summerpictures I can sit at work and enjoy, while it is freezing cold outside. This blog always warms my heart!!

  10. Lisa says:

    Oh She is divine!
She looks so much like Luca now, those beautiful chocolate eyes :o)

We love ladybug season (even if I end up with scrapped knees from burrs as I help the Feral fairy fill her bug catcher), keeps me in my childhood :oP!

Congrats on your new blog too, it’s incredibly pretty & I am happily jealous for you.
Hope September brings beautiful new beginnings for you all x
Much love, rainbows & sunshine Lisa xx

I’ve been keeping up with your blog since early this year. You have such a beautiful way of expressing your thoughts and feelings. I feel as if I know you and your family, and my heart aches for you on days like today.

September is my favorite month as well, and I just had to respond to your post. It is my birth month, too, but the beginning of Autumn here. The weather is finally getting more bearable, not so hot and humid, and the trees will start to turn the most glorious colors. We (my husband and two daughters, ages 2, and 4 this month) venture outside more to enjoy the new cooler temperatures, even though it’s still going to hit 85′ today. The cooler temps come later in the month.

Thank you for sharing yourself – your bad days and your good days – with us. You are so talented and I feel lucky to have a glimpse into your photography. Too bad we’re so far away from your talents because my two girls would definitely be visiting your place for some pics to be taken!

Enjoy the first day of September!

  13. Liz says:

    Happy September!

Sheye, they are lovely pictures of Ivy. She looks like such a young lady now! She’s losing all her babyishness. My little one, is now a ‘grown up girl’ and I wasn’t allowed to wave goodbye to her today when I left her at school! They grow so quick :)

  14. Denise says:

What a cutie-patootie!!! Gorgeous child :) I am thoroughly enjoying Explore. I’m reading my camera manual!! I can’t wait to learn and do more with my camera. Thank you Sheye for sharing your expertise, it’s awesome. I LOVE September. It’s the beginning of Fall, cooler days, the mums are blooming, time to put out my Fall decorations, i.e. pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks, I love it. By the way, your BIO made me smile – I’m a procrastinator and an all or nothing myself. I finally figured that out about myself – the all or nothing – took me long enough :)

How interesting that winter is fading there and fall is just beginning here. September is my birth month as well, but I associate it with pumpkin cookies, Butternut Squash soup, apple pie….as much as I love fall things, I certainly wouldn’t mind my “special day” being in the beginning of summer! How lucky.

  20. julianne says:

September is my favorite month, too! But for a different reason. The burning hot Texas summer is just starting to wear off and autumn is coming! I hate winter, but I LOVE autumn.

  21. Melinda says:

Really. It should be illegal to be that purty! Ivish is seriously delicious in that pink cardigan.

I’m with Julianne. Here in south Georgia, September means the end to scorching summer and the beginning of cooler evenings, harvest moons and lovely autumn.

    Happy September Birthday!

  22. Milkshake Mademoiselle says:

Hey darling. Oh how I have always adored September 1… But like you, this year its been a strange one. So many “what if’s” for that day were planned last year and none have come to fruition. It was strange because I am usually celebrating spring and the scent of jasmin on the evening breeze but here in europe we say goodbye to summer. I’m still filled with hope that one day my september first will be that special day for me.. Not this year however.. I am so looking forward to spending next year with you – embracing spring and hope of beauty-full days to come.
    I love you.

  23. Rachel says:

The new site is wonderful and Ivy is getting so big! She is such a gorgeous little package. I hope you have a beautiful month.

    Much love,

  24. Jodi says:

    Sheye,
I absolutely LOVE your new website!! It is so…girly! As always, your beautiful words make my eyes full of tears. Thank you, again, for sharing. Ivy is so squeezable and darling!

  25. sarah says:

possibly a weird request but I am so curious i must ask. Would it be possible for you to post some photos of your home? I’m so curious to see your decorating style after reading your blog and seeing your clothing choices for your kids. If that feels too much like privacy invasion I totally get it….just very intrigued!! Thanks….btw…ivy is gorgeous!

  26. Shelby says:

I just wanted you to know how much I LOVE (like true love) your new template! It makes me happy just to click over and see the beautiful polka-dots (for which I am a sucker) and all the pink and pretty things!

  27. Emma says:

Please tell me – because I honestly can’t tell if those pictures are of Ava or Ivy!

  28. Amy says:

Oh Sheye..I love the new blog! And Ivy, well what can I say that hasn’t been said? She is delish. I just watched the slide show of Ava and it is stunning, hauntingly beautiful and perfect. You are a gift to many, myself included. And..from one September baby to another..Happy Birthday sweet Sheye. xoxo Amy Missouri, USA

  29. Brittany says:

Hello Sheye, I have read your blog for quit sometime, but have not ever commented. I think you are such a beautiful person and I have learned so much from you sharring your sweet Ava with all of us. You have made me re-think life and enjoy my children more, I will be forever grateful to you for that. I started a blog to honor your families story and other families inspirational stories, just a fun place where anyone is welcome. My hope is that people from all over the world, all different backgrounds, with all different stories will come and share their stories on the blog with all of us. I really believe that we all have so much that we can share with one another and so much can be learned from bearing one anothers burdens. You are an amazing person and your family (especially your precious daughter) have touched so many lifes. If you would like to look at the site (it isn’t much yet) it is http://www.placeforinspiration.blogspot.com

    Sincerely-
    Brittany

I’m in the middle of doing the Explore workshop with Sheye. I’d just like to share with everybody how wonderful it is and how much we are all learning. If you can, put your name down for Sheye’s next workshop. We ask questions and receive detailed, thoughtful answers. We can put up photos and Sheye offers advice on what we could do differently and suggests different angles, camera settings etc. Sheye shares her knowledge with us so freely and I am so appreciative. I have learnt more in 4 days than I have in the past 6 months trying to bumble my way through figuring out my camera. Thank you Sheye xx
