Blame it on the critters.

Angie and India came around under the guise of helping me sort through boxes stored in the shed. It was going quite well until the first glimpse of a large critter when we went fleeing and screaming out of there, half laughing half crying vowing never to return. (Mason happened to answer the phone to Kate just before this very event so she can vouch for the hysterical shreiks).

So, boxes abandoned. What else do bored girls do on a Saturday afternoon? Photoshoot of course.

Angie said she wanted to be Ivy for a day so we got out on the grass, twirled some skirt and stole some light. Can you believe Angie is actually India’s MOTHER? Yummy Mummy doesn’t remotely cover it.

RIIIIIGHT that explains why India is so drop dead gorgeous.
    She has those genes!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It all makes sense now.
Are you sure Angie is old enough to have a child that age. They really could pass as sisters.

Well I suppose I’II take your word for it.
    Looks like a fun day.
    Wish I had a sis.

  3. Katie Price says:

They are both incredibly beautiful. I love the one of your niece laying on her mother’s shoulder. They are lucky they have you to take pictures like these. You are all gorgeous.

My word your family is beautiful Sheye, and just a note on Angie-I love those tattos, she wears them so gracefully.

She is beautiful, the both are.
Stunning photographs and I do say she managed to pull an Ivy pretty perfect.

  8. Kate says:

Vouching for the screams. The only thing I heard was Macey saying “sure I’ll go find mum” then a brief moment of silence before jack the ripper style screaming. I was considering calling 000 when Sheye picked up. Then I realised animal welfare may be a better choice for the traumatised rat :p : p

  14. Vanessa says:

Sheye – do you lay down on the ground to get those looking-up wonderful dress and leg shots?

I love the colours – especially the pink and white together – all ice cream and coconut ice.

    Very, very cool:)

what do the tattos signify, I wonder? I have a couple myself, but
not that bold. I wonder if Angie
    would explain?

  17. Melinda says:

That toile dress is beautiful! She doesn’t look like she could possibly be old enough to be anyone’s mother. I hate creepy crawlies. Are you sure you saw one? Was that just an excuse to play?

  18. Alissa says:

I love/hate your blog because it fascinates/saddens me to my core. There is something about your Ava that reminds me of my daughter. I think that’s the intrigue. My aunt also lost her daughter at the age of 3. She was hit by a car. My aunt has never been the same. I won’t tell you that it will be okay. It’s not okay. And don’t feel bad if you are never the same.

I think you are a beautiful writer and very talented with your photography. Thank you.

  23. Tanya says:

OMG!!! Angie is just so darn gorgeous… & India is so very beautiful too! You girls definitely got the gorgeous genes that’s for sure!!

What a great way to spend a Saturday!!! amazing photos as always Sheye!! now I have not only your amazing ability to take one fantastic photo after fantastic photo envy… you can add gene envy as well… “SIGH”

    lots of love,
    Tanya xx

  24. Christine says:

What? It cannot be that those two gorgeous women are mother/daughter and not sisters. If I had to guess, I would have put Angie at 23 and India at 16, which uh not possible. I don’t believe it.

  25. Rachel says:

Gorgeous… no I can’t believe that is her mother. Are you sure you didn’t mean sister?

  26. ModernGear TV says:

Wow, what absolutely beautiful women! And not just skin-deep beautiful, either. There is life and love in those eyes.

Hello to you from Long Beach, CA, Sheye – my husband is on a business trip to Perth right now so it felt fitting that I came across your site.

I read it all, every page, yesterday. I am dealing with a very very deep heartbreak of my own, we lost our first child in a stillbirth at 28 weeks, two months ago.

My heart goes out to you.

    Tamara

I am addicted to your blog, but never commented. I find your raw honesty appealing and I just have to keep reading. Question for you – what song do you have playing on your blog currently? Loved it. Thanks.

  29. Sheye Rosemeyer says:

    Thankyou Church :)
The song is India Arie’s Summer. (I always have the song names down the very bottom of the page).. It’s sweet, isn’t it?
    Cheers :)

  30. Sheye Rosemeyer says:

Sorry, I read back over that and thought it might be confusing..let me try again! It’s “Summer” by India Arie.

They are both intensly beautiful. What memorable photos to have of mother/daughter. Sheye i have a question if you dont mind? How on earth do you add youtube music to blogger? I cannot figure it out!!!

  36. Sheye Rosemeyer says:

    Hi Alinta
Actually, with a lot of headache :) I honestly can’t remember how I did it in the end but it wasn’t straight forward and I played around with the HTML for a while. I remember a fair amount of Google was involved! I’m sorry I can’t be of more help..

  37. Amy says:

Beautiful photos as ever, Sheye. :)

I have been following your blog for about a year. I don’t remember how I stumbled upon it but I distinctly recall Ava’s sweet beautiful face and just falling in love with this superprincess through your words and photos. All I could think as I pored over each one was “how”?

This evening, over dinner with my parents, we got onto the subject of the seaside which soon turned to accidents and of little ones gone too soon. It was then that I learned of a ‘family secret’ from my father – an older cousin of mine, who drowned, aged 7, on a beach trip with my grandparents and has never been spoken about since. I never knew of his existence until this evening, and something inside me broke apart. It wasn’t so much his passing that upset me, although that hit me, too; but the fact that for the last 30 years, my whole family have simply pretended he never existed. A clever, funny, bouncy 7-year-old, just gone. I am sure they have their reasons for reacting in this way, but I immediately thought of you Sheye, and beautiful little Ava, and what a wonderful, amazing, beauty-full job you are doing of preserving her sweet memory.

I know it’s not a job you ever want to have to do; but please know that you are doing it so SO very well.

    xx
