A Cake Bakin’

I still stick by my admission that I am NOT a finger-painting, cookie-baking Mother. It’s only at Luca’s insistence after finding packet mix in the cupboard that this little event even took place. They obviously had a ball. I just had a reminder why ordering from the Hyatt Bakery makes so much sense.

(And yes, that is my hideous pre-renovated kitchen. Just be thankful I’ve spared you from the coloured version in varnished orange pine. See why I don’t cook?)

Just wanted to say also, I’ve changed my profile at Flickr to Family and Friends for kids photos..If you want to be added as a contact, just let me know. I am working through a very long list so please don’t think I’ve forgotten you! I’ll get there xx

    Yeah. I don’t do cakes either, I remember the boy proudly telling someone, ‘My mum, she buys really good cakes’.

    And I do! I’m an excellent cake buyer.

    ps I don’t eat kid made stuff either. I know that makes me a bad mother, daycare always frowns at me when I won’t touch the communal made brownies, it’s just that I’m trying to cut down on my spit intake.

    See, as I scrolled through your gorgeous pics, I was struck with an immediate sense of nostalgia for cake baking with my Mum back in the 70s – dangling feet, licking bowls and beaters etc. And the retro furniture is the perfect complement to the whole effect. So I think it’s all a setup on your behalf :P – gotta bake a cake before I renovate the kitchen so I can use it to accessorise my retro photography style LOL So now you have the pics, you can safely demolish the kitchen and do a bakery run ;)

    Hi Sheye I just had to tell you I finally have my blog up and running and it’s all because of you. For me that is exciting….

    Your beautiful words are so inspiring. I hope my boys will one day look back at what their lives have ment to me.
    Also did I tell you that Mandy from belle and boo is doing me a picture of my four boys. I am paying her to do one just like the super princess ones as they are stunning. It is in the process now and I can’t wait to see it.

    If I had a girl her room would have the whole Ava set on every wall !!!!!!

    The way you frame life is so beautiful. Every bit is a piece of art. You take the little sweet moments that slip past so quickly, and you candy them. Little pieces become solid and sure… and though they’re like symbols just cues to unlock the wider awareness of memory, they stand alone admirably. No spectacularly. You inspire me to keep trying to coexist with my camera in hopes that I can some day too artfully frame life.
