Green Acres.

Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin’ is the life for me.
Land spreadin’ out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

New York is where I’d rather stay.
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

…The chores.
…The stores.
…Fresh air.
…Times Square

You are my wife.
Good bye, city life.
Green Acres we are there.

Do you remember the tv show with Eva Gabor? I loved it as a child, espescially the bit where she’d throw her dirty plates out the kitchen window rather than wash them. We actually did that ourselves as kids, at my grandmothers house. If there were pots to scrub, we’d conspire, all seven of us cousins…and while one lot would distract, the others would tiptoe out into the garden and bury the evidence on the council land next door. Like it had never existed. Years later when the council actually turned up to mow, they were dumbfounded to find dozens of unwashed pans. So when I saw Eva doing just this whilst wearing a feather boa and a smile on her face, I knew it was the tv show for me.

I have thought of Eva lately,  now that I have my own “Green Acres” – albeit 1.5 acres about 10 mins from Westfield – but still, it’s got a shed and a stable even. It’s SO dark at night and there are endless varieties of wild-life roaming past the front door (apparently – I’ve not yet ventured out after dark). I’m not really a rural gal. I hate camping. (Well I know I would hate it if I ever tried it). I don’t cope with creatures. I’d prefer my street brightly lit, thankyou.. But, I do love the tranquility and I love how friendly everyone is. It might just take a while before I’m out planting snow peas.

The best bit so far though is that the kids absolutely love it. They run around all day and sleep well at night. (well, unless it’s Christmas :p) They fight less and help more. The image in my head before we arrived actually matches the scene in my garden…how nice :)

    Hello,

If we ever are lucky enough to meet face to face Maddy will sing you the Green Acres song (It even comes with a funny dance). She is a huge Green Acres fan and I’ve always wondered what my young daughter likes about it. Maybe she too finds humour in Eva’s lack of domestic ability.

I’m glad there are nice things you are all loving about the new house. The pics capture it beautifully.

Ivish looks so much like Ava in her “marilyn” photo – the touseled hair, the full pout, she IS divine. You make beautiful babies honey. x

I don’t know how it is possible, but Ivy gets more gorgeous by the day. You can see the entire universe in those eyes. I’m craving your weather as well!

I’m in love with that top. Love the edging…. so very classic. And Mr. Luca looks so very wise in that last picture.

I always thought Eva looked like a queen amidst the ordinary in those shows. And for some reason I loved the running “What’s for supper?” (hotcakes) gag.

I loved that show!! Sounds like a beautiful place to live Sheye… and only 10 mins to Westfield gotta love that! Open space for the kids to run & play, a stable (you will have to get a horse to go with it) no wonder the kids love it!!! Love these photos Sheye! they seem to be growing up so quickly, and Miss Ivy just adorable! xx

Oh I just adore that second photo of Ivy and I have no idea why. It’s so candid.

I’m so happy that everything is going smoothly and the kids love it. That’s always a comfort for parents when the kiddos are happy.
