Things, Lovely Things.
(Because I’ve been at the pc all day proofing, I’m determined to make this post about something other than photography. Seeing as Carrie is doing her best Martha impression and posting recipes these days, I’ll be going one better and discussing shelf ornaments…Stay with me here. :p)
I love to imagine one day I’ll have a totally zen house. Devoid of kidstuff, clutter and paperwork.. A few bits of uber stylish furniture, white of course, and not a lot else.
The reality is that I live amongst all manner of shades of practical taupe, beige, chocolate and espresso, apart from the lego decorations which are multi colour of course, and just indulge in an all white bedroom.
Having said all that, when it comes to the kids rooms, I aim for total carnivale! Ivy’s room is candy pink, orange, blue and green! The possiblities are endless! I love collecting little unusual things for her..babushka dolls are a favourite, as are those teeny suitcases!

Each night she says goodnight to the tin people you see here..we call them her “friends” and she gives them a kiss and a wave.

So there you go…a peek into Ivy’s bookcase. I’m quite sure I’ve never posted so many pictures of non moving objects :p
Sooooo cute!!! I’m quite sure lately my problem with finding nothing in the shops to buy is that I need children so I can have fun decorating their rooms! The possibilies ARE endless! You are so good at it! :)

I love the cats! I can spend hours browsing in the stores for cute little knick knacks for Abby’s room. J.T.’s is a little harder: I get disapproving looks from both he and his father when I choose things for his shelves. Also living in the beige, choco world…. MY one indulgence was a light beige carpet in the den…. stupid, stupid, stupid. Something ground-in that many steam-cleanings will not remove and a bright pink stain of indeterminate origin.
Oh I love them. I cant wait to have kids to decorate their rooms…….aaah!
You know I love your kids rooms!
One day I hope my girls have rooms big enough for all of those yummy things *sigh*.
Gorgeous pics hon.
xx
HA! and you think I ‘do Martha’ – take a good hard look at yourself girlfriend :oP !!! x
Oooh, I loove what you’ve done with her room. It’s so fun!
I know what you mean about the brown/natural tones, that totally made me laugh.
Thats got to be the most gorgeous (and beautifully photographed) bookcase I’ve ever seen :) You have inspired me to create a space for sweet things for my baby boy thanks!
OK Sheye, Fess up girl! Where are you shopping?
Shayne
Oh Shayne!! I’m sorry.. Okay, here are all the tidbits of shopping info I owe you..
The red boots – Target!!! They do have the cutest baby shoes.
The spotty bloomers are Oilily (and from Modekids (http://www.modekids.at/)
Ivy’s bookcase – The tin people – a local garden centre!!
The babushka dolls – Loot Homewares
The wooden cats – some strange little shop in Brisbane!
The wooden butterflies – Crabtree & Evelyn (also where I got the card in the background of the elephant photo).
I can’t remember what else you’ve asked about so just refresh me if I”ve missed something!!! I’ll remember to divulge my sources in future!!! LOL!!
I am so happy you still have the babushka doll, and that it in Ivy’s room… but dare I ask… what happenned to the mousy mousy??!!
Thanks Sheye, I love Oilily. When Ash was a baby I was given a heap of hand me downs from a friend who is Dutch. Most were Oilily and she wore it to death. I have been addicted to the wensite ever since but have not had the confidence to purchase as I am not sure what size she would be. Ash is now a Bridget B/piping Hot girl now. Sigh.
I am going to get the butterflys for Belle’s birthday coming up, she has a special bookcase with special things.
Steve and I collect Matryoska Dolls (babooshka dolls)on behalf of Ashleigh we love them. The Best ones I have found were in a shop in Montville and a lady in Berry (NSW) has a nice selection. I also bought direct from Russia. Totally different thing for us to collect.
Shopping is a great diversion – I have used this technique for many years now.
Thanks for the info.
