Back in the day.

I don’t normally do this kind of thing but was looking through old photos today and thought I’d post a few…

This is me circa 1992 with my first ‘proper’ boyfriend. We lasted three years until he became quite sure I had a thing for my flatmate. I was quite sure he was wrong at the time but seeing as I went on to marry and have four children to my beloved flatmate, I guess he was onto something.
Similar timeframe, outside the MCA in Sydney. I’d gotten home from work the day before and announced “Hey, Andy Warhol has an exhibition in Sydney this weekend, do you want to go?”. So being 20 and free, fore-mentioned fellow and I drove the nine hours to get there, only to find the Gay Mardigras was also on so we had nowhere, and I do mean nowhere, to stay. I’m surprised we actually lasted after that weekend, it was so damn miserable :p

1991. When Daisies Attack….
Now at the risk of never living this down, I had to share my totally humiliating attempt at chanelling Drew Barrymore. Sherrie and I took ourselves along to one of those ridiculous studios where they plaster you with a tonne of makeup, airbrush you to within an inch of your life and insist you look breath-taking. You decide for yourself.

1993. Returning from LA with Jennifer and Sandra. I mentioned previously our hyperventilating at the sight of Saks…that was just the start. It’s no coincidence that I experienced my first peti-mal epileptic seizure about an hour after this photo was taken…three weeks of non stop shopping will do that to you. :p

And lastly, 2003, celebrating my birthday with Sherrie and Emma…

So that’s my little trip back in time…
Anyone else game?
Sheye x

oh that is a lovely walk down memory lane…now where shall I post all of the INCRIMINATING photos I have of us??? I have to say, the memory of us hyperventiating is still so clear…it really was a pivotal moment in our lives, huh? There are so many moments from that road trip…posing pics where river pheonix died, black rappers stealing credit cards, missing out on horseriding at Yosemite, rolling around in snow, COTTONTAIL RANCH, lost videotapes in Las Vegas (now that was nasty), halloween in Florida, filming strangers backsides, vege resturarant in San Fransisco….need i go on?? xxx

Thankyou for sharing your little trip down memory lane. I have had one of those insane photo shoots where they plaster make-up on you within an inch of your life too *lol* and pose you in the most bizarre poses. I think you did a pretty good job of channelling Drew. I even can picture the exact photo of her with the daisies.

As for the rest of my trip down memory lane … I claim amnesia ;) I might remember and blog it, but that requires a scanner and effort …. soon???

oh darlin’ I missed the Drew Barrymore but have a fabulous Gwyneth Paltrow circa ‘sliding doors’ with little flowers all through my hair shot somewhere in the archives.
Your glamour shoot is very respectable, you look so sweet (LMAO). I once was shown one by a friend and hers was one of those very very scary just wrapped in a red satin sheet done with the pouty ‘bold and the beautiful’ look, shot with a vaseline filter AND it blown up the size of a VW.
    scary, scary, scary
That’s why you need to start your sexy woman photo business, so every woman can have a beautiful photo.

Ah, the denim miniskirt. You know those are back in style now, along with black leggings. I feel like I am officially a grownup…. everything old is new again. Do you think leg-warmers and torn jeans are next (still remember my dad freaking that I spent $50 for a pair of jeans that “looked ready for the trash bin”)?

  10. Shayne Hope says:

Watch this space Sheye, I am going to go in search of photos of thy self when I was a hot mama and had just meant my husband.

  11. Fari says:

Melinda, the torn jeans have been in for a while now. My 17 year old brother got a pair recently and my grandma freaked out and asked him why did he pay so much money for old jeans?

  12. Morgan says:
